Hey my friend,

This is a variable. Just click into it and change it. What should I call you, my friend? To me, this is 100% a hidden gem in Notion. You disagree? Well, you can change that number too 😎.

But that’s not it. Who’s to say you can only have one variable? Why not build something with two? Like announcing that it’s only 3 more days until your Very cool event on February 4, 2022 ?

How to create a variable in Notion?

Simply create a new page, put the value of the variable as the page title and then mention the page using the @ command wherever you need it.

Alternatively, you can also copy the link to the page and paste it to create a mention of the page.

Now change the name of the page and it will dynamically update across your workspace

Where can you use Notion’s hidden variables?

Personalise your template

My favourite use right now. If you build templates, why not use variables to surprise your users and turn this from something that feels like it’s build from someone else into something that’s truly theirs?

Here’s how I use this in my 👉🏼 Ultimate Journal & Review Pack 2022 👇🏼

Create dynamic summaries

If you are an avid note taker, then you probably love global blocks and the ability to edit information in one place and have it reflect across your workspace.

With variables, this just got better. Now, you can edit granular information that you might use in several different global blocks.
